Fun Outing For Foodies

The other day a student told me about a place she likes to go to in Murphys. I was excited to hear about it because I love that little town. I also have two places I enjoy in Murphys. The place she likes is called Marisolio Tasting Bar.

I took a drive to Murphys to check this place out. I was like a little kid in a candy shop. They have all natural Harissa infused olive oils, delicacy oils, infused vinegar, pastas ( some of the pastas are gluten-free and they give a recipe for each pasta if you want) olives from Spain, recipes and some sweet things for gifts. You are invited to taste the oils and vinegars. They help you find the perfect pairing with the oils and vinegars. The person that helped me was very nice and very knowledgeable about the products. They also have cooking classes. Of course, I purchased a few things to come home and play with. I got my parents some gluten-free pasta and for me, cranberry pear balsamic, blood orange infused olive oil, chipotle hot olive oil, lemongrass mint balsamic and roasted walnut oil. I have created Roasted Walnut Onion Jam. It is so yummy and I will use it in many ways. I made ravioli with it and drizzled the roasted walnut oil on top. It is great to put it on a cracker with goat cheese as an appetizer or in a grilled provolone cheese sandwich, or on top of a steak. With the Lemongrass mint balsamic I made a glaze. My friend had just given me a bag of Meyers Lemons. I will use this glaze on chicken. Seeing how it was the holidays I haven’t had time to play with the other products that I purchased. I will keep you informed of what I make next. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

If you haven’t been to Murphys I would highly recommend you go. You park the car and all the great shops and wineries are walking distance from each other. After spending time at Marisolio Tasting Bar I walked over to “ The Spice Tin.” I found this place a few years back. It has some very unusual things like “ Bourbon Smoked Sugar “ I had a lot of fun with this one. I made Bourbon Smoked Peach Butter. They suggest you use it for grilled meat. They have 170 spices and herbs, BBQ blends, sauces and dips and sea salts from all over the world, and a variety of flavor infused sea salts. Plus they have some wonderful gifts like wooden bowls, salt and pepper shakers, cook books, marble salt bowls and so much more. Of course I picked up a few things here too, Dry Kaffir Lime Leaves ( to use when I’m making Thai food ) , Curry Green, Thai Coconut powder ( they suggest you make a paste to marinate chicken), Moroccan Spiced Couscous, Paprika from Spain, Bourbon Smoked Black Pepper and some cinnamon.

Next, I walked to “ Creative Cookware “, what a beautiful store with just about everything you would need. They have a big selection of cutting boards, dishes, tea pots, tea, and cook books and so much more. I always enjoy going to this store.

Here is the information on all three stores.

Come to the Gold Country, take a canning class with All In A Jar and make it a fun weekend. We have so much to do here. There are lakes, rivers, wonderful antique shops, kitchen stores, old fashion candy stores, caves and zip lines. I hope you take the time and check out the three wonderful businesses I shared with you.

Happy New Year

See you in class

New Chapter

Hello All In A Jar fans,

This is a happy and yet sad blog, I need to share with you that All In A Jar will be moving in March of this year. It is a happy time because my husband and I, will be starting a new chapter in our life’s moving up to the Gold Country. We are looking forward to having a garden, fruit trees and some chickens.  I will continue to teach once we get settled in.

But yet sad, because I  leave behind all the wonderful students that have come to my classes. I will try my best to keep blogging during this very busy part of my life. The class calendar goes to the end of February. Please come join me in the last of the classes here in Lafayette. You can always  email me with questions. I will do my best to help and of course you can always come up to the Gold Country for a class.

I am considering having All In A Jar  travel to students homes.
Please let me know if that would be something you would like.
Best wishes to all of you and Happy Canning.

See you in class
